Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit (Putnam County)- Assistant Public Defender III or IV


The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to fill an Assistant Public Defender III or IV position serving Putnam County. Primary duties include representing indigent clients in Superior Court. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position: including but not limited to, preparation and presentation of cases for trials and/or pleas. The Assistant Public Defender III or IV will be responsible for conducting legal research, preparing and presenting complex documents, pleading compilation, orders, etc. Applicants must be in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.  A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required. Applicants must have the ability to communicate with clients and advocate defense positions in court and negotiations.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender III or IV will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position will perform as a lead attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony cases. Performs other related duties as required.
