Northern Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender I or II


The Northern Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender I or II. The Circuit serves Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Madison, and Oglethorpe Counties. Primary responsibilities include representing indigent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including but not limited to, preparation and presentation of cases for trial and entering of pleas. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university. The chosen applicant must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or plans to sit for the July 2026 Georgia Bar Exam.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender I or II will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients.
