Augusta Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender II (County Position)


The Augusta Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire a Richmond County Assistant Public Defender II.  The primary responsibilities include representing indigent clients with criminal case(s) in Superior Courts.  Applicants must have the required skills to perform the responsibilities for the position.  The candidate must possess one (1) or more years of experience as a practicing attorney and demonstrate the ability to multi-task. Applicants must be licensed in the State of Georgia as well as be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.

The Assistant Public Defender II represents clients in court at various stages of cases, including arraignments, preliminary and pretrial hearings, probation and sentencing, post-adjudication/post-conviction hearings, appeals or any related courtroom proceedings, negotiates at all stages on behalf of the client. Emphasis will be placed upon candidates’ demonstrated commitment to indigent defense.  Performs other related duties as required.
