Appellate Division- Managing Attorney


The Georgia Public Defender Council’s Appellate Division is seeking to hire an experienced Managing Attorney to oversee the Statewide Appellate Program. This position requires expertise in laws, regulations, decisions, and case law. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position. The candidate must possess and maintain up-to-date knowledge of all laws governing appellate practice and ensure that every appellate case has appropriate representation. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia with criminal appellate practice experience.

Description of Duties: The Appellate Manager will oversee all Appellate operations for the Georgia Public Defender Council. The duties of the Appellate Division’s Managing Attorney will include the supervision of all Appellate Staff, including independent staff attorneys housed in satellite Appellate Offices throughout the State of Georgia. This position will supervise and be responsible for conducting all training for appellate practice within GPDC. The Appellate Manager will work at the pleasure of the Executive Director. Other duties may be required and assigned.
