The Georgia Public Defender Council, Alternate Public Defender Northeast Region is seeking to fill an Assistant Public Defender III or IV position. This region serves the Northern, Piedmont, and Western Circuits. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. Primary duties include representing indigent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings, including arraignment, pretrial hearings, trial preparation, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing. A strong commitment to indigent defense is required. Applicants must be current members in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender III or IV will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs mid-to-advanced levels of professional legal work and may assist in cases of routine complexity. The candidate may perform as a lead attorney and must be prepared to counsel other attorneys as to the case management practices of handling their assigned cases. Performs other related duties as required.
