Augusta Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender I (County Position)


The Augusta Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire a County Assistant Public Defender I.  Under close supervision of the supervising attorney, the Assistant Public Defender I will be responsible for conducting legal research including researching precedents in cases. Additional primary duties include, but are not limited to, preparing and disseminating complex documents, compiling and preparing subpoenas, pleadings, etc., developing and modifying forms and procedures, and delivering legal pleadings. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to multi-task. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or pending admittance.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender I will analyze, appraise, and organize facts and present such materials in clear and logical form for oral and written presentation. Perform research and analysis. Demonstrate a commitment to indigent defense.  Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
