The Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC) is seeking qualified applicants to serve as Independent Contractor Attorneys for the Fulton County Juvenile Court. This contract opportunity offers an annual rate of $84,000, paid in monthly installments, and is ideal for experienced attorneys passionate about juvenile defense.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal defense services for juveniles charged with delinquent acts. Appointments not to exceed 125 clients.
- Represent youth in SB440 matters, including cases involving the transfer of juveniles to Superior Court.
- Conduct hearings, prepare legal documents, and advocate for clients throughout all stages of juvenile proceedings.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, court staff, and associated stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
- Demonstrated experience in criminal or juvenile defense preferred.
- Must be qualified and prepared to handle SB440 matters.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet court deadlines.
