Tifton Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender I, II, III, or IV (Grant-funded)


The Tifton Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office is seeking to hire Assistant Public Defender I, II, III, or IV.  The applicant’s primary duties include representing indigent clients with criminal case(s) in the Juvenile Courts of the Tifton Judicial Circuit, the clients charged with misdemeanors in the Superior Court of Irwin County, and indigent clients with criminal cases in the Superior Court of Tift County.  The applicant must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position.  In addition, the applicant must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.  A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required.

This is a grant-funded position.

Description of Duties:  The Assistant Public Defender will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients.  This position performs as an expert attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony cases.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
