Assistant Public Defender

This position is NOT a State of Georgia Position.

The salary range will be determined by Paulding County Human Resource Office and Finance Department.   The person filling this position will be an employee of Paulding County and eligible for County benefits.

The Paulding Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to fill an Assistant Public Defender I position. Primary duties include representing indigent clients with criminal case(s) in Superior Court and Juvenile Court of Paulding County.   Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including but not limited to, preparation and presentation of cases trial and entering of pleas, in both felony and misdemeanor cases in Superior Court. Under supervision of the supervising attorney will also be responsible for conducting legal research including researching precedents in cases, preparation and dissemination of complex documents, pleading compilation, orders, etc. A willingness to handle juvenile cases is a plus.  Bilingual is a plus but not required.

Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
