Paulding Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender III (Grant-Funded)

The Paulding Judicial Circuit Public Defenders Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender III. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including preparing cases for trial, zealously advocating and defending their client, seeking and negotiating plea dispositions, and entering pleas in felony cases in Superior Court. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required.

Duration: Funding is provided for two years after the hire date

Grant Funded: This position is funded through the State of Georgia; funding is apportioned for at least two years of employment after a candidate’s hire date.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender III will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs as a lead attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony and appellate cases. Advises and counsels other attorneys as to the case management practices of handling assigned cases. May act as the designated supervising attorney. Performs other related duties as assigned.
