The Office of the Mental Health Advocate is currently seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender II to work statewide representing individuals found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and Incompetent to stand trial. This position requires extensive statewide travel; court hearings; visiting clients at mental health hospitals; assisting with developing seminars; consulting with other attorneys; representing the division on committees; collaborating with other agencies; preparing and assisting with appeals, etc. A strong commitment to indigent defense and working with individuals with mental illness is a must.
