The Circuit Public Defender’s office of the Mountain Judicial Circuit is seeking applicants for an Assistant Public Defender I position. This position is an entry-level position and will be immediately responsible for a caseload of felonies and/or felonies and misdemeanors. Represent indigent clients from intake through trial and appeals. This position requires admission to the Georgia Bar and the Courts of Appeals and Supreme Court (may be admitted after beginning job duties). Mentoring will be given as well as in-house training. Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender I will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs beginning-level professional legal work and may assist in cases of routine complexity. To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and a license to practice law in the State of Georgia. Performs other related duties as required.
