Salary: $60,000 to $70,000

The Georgia Public Defender Council has an opening for a full-time First Appearance Attorney (Atlanta, GA), representing indigent defendants at First Appearance. The First Appearance Attorney
will provide competent and zealous bond advocacy at first appearance hearings to achieve pretrial release of clients. Requires early office arrival and/or late evening departure to adequately prepare for first appearance hearings.
Job Description and Requirements:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university AND license to practice law in the State of Georgia. One (1) to three (3) years of relevant legal experience. Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local criminal laws; and knowledge to conduct case research and documentation. Ability to make sound and well-informed decisions and perceive the impact and implications of decisions.
