The Georgia Capital Defender’s Office has an opening for a Second Chair Attorney III in the Macon, Georgia Office. The Macon Office handles indigent capital cases predominantly in Middle Georgia, but applicants must be willing and able to handle cases throughout Georgia, if necessary. All applicants must have a strong interest in death penalty defense and client-centered representation. Second Chair applicants must meet all of the following requirements: must have 3-5 years of criminal trial experience, be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, must have significant jury trial experience, and have been lead or co-counsel in one or more murder cases, or two serious violent felony cases to verdict. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively.
