Assistant Public Defender – Grant Funded


The Georgia Public Defender Council is seeking to hire client-focused attorneys for grant funded Assistant Public Defender positions in all GPDC contracted judicial circuits.

Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including preparing cases for trial, zealously advocating and defending their client, seeking and negotiating plea dispositions, and entering pleas in felony cases in Superior Court.  Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender – Grant Funded will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs as a lead attorney, assigned to serious, high-profile, and significant felony and appellate cases.

Grant Funding & Duration: These positions are funded through the State of Georgia, funding is apportioned for at least two years of employment after a candidate’s hire date.
