Alternate Public Defender (West Georgia) – Regional Managing Attorney


The  Alternate Public Defender West Georgia Office is seeking to fill a Regional Managing Attorney position. This office serves the Coweta, Paulding and Tallapoosa Circuits.  The primary duties include managing staff attorneys, administrative staff, and representing indigent clients with criminal case(s) in Superior Court, sometimes Juvenile Court, and Magistrate Court.  Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position.  The Managing Attorney will be responsible for preparing and presenting cases for trial and entering pleas, conducting legal research, preparing and disseminating complex documents, pleading compilation, orders, etc.  This position will advise and counsel other attorneys as to the case management practices of handling their assigned cases.  The Managing Attorney must demonstrate a mastery of litigation and possess extensive jury trial experience as the lead counsel in felony cases.
