Alternate Public Defender (East Central) – Assistant Public Defender III


The Alternate Public Defender East Central Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender III.  This office serves the Columbia, Toombs, and Augusta Circuits in the Columbia, McDuffie, Glascock, Warren, Taliaferro, Wilkes, and Richmond counties.  Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including preparing cases for trial, zealously advocating and defending their client, seeking and negotiating plea depositions, and entering pleas in the felony cases in Superior Court. Criminal law and trail experience preferred, however, willing to mentor a qualified applicant. Applicants must be current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.  A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required.
