Antipsychotics

These medications can treat but are not limited to Schizophrenic Disorders, Delusional Disorder, and Psychotic Disorders. Several related symptoms include, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior, delusions, hallucinations, absence of insight, restricted emotional expression, restricted fluency and productivity of thought and speech.

  • Abilify (Aripiprazole) - is used to treat schizophrenia. It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain.
  • Clozaril, Fazaclo (Clozapine) – is used to treat schizophrenia in patients where other medicine has not worked
  • Compazine (Prochlorperazine) - It also is used to treat psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and hostility, additionally it can assist in anxiety.
  • Daxolin, Loxitane (Loxapine) – is used to treat psychotic disorders and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Etrafon (Perphenazine, Trilafon) - is an antipsychotic drug of intermediate-potency. Used in the treatment of disorganized and psychotic thinking. Also used to help treat false perceptions ( e.g. hallucinations or delusions).
  • Geodon (Ziprasidone) – is used to treat schizophrenia. It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain.
  • Haldol (Haloperidol) - is used to treat psychotic disorders and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility and to control muscular tics of the face, neck, hands, and shoulders. Has a sedative quality to it.
  • Lidone (Molindone, Moban) - is an anti psychotic drug of intermediate-potency. Used in the treatment of disorganized and psychotic thinking, and hallucinations or delusions.)
  • Loxitane (Loxapine) – is used to treat psychotic disorders and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Mellaril (Thioridazine) - is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Moban (Molindone) - is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Navane (Thiothixene) - is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Orap (Pimozide) - is an antipsychotic drug of high-potency. It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. Only used when client does not respond to other drugs.
  • Permitil, Prolixin (Fluphenazine) - is used to treat schizophrenia and psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Risperdal (Risperidone) – is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia ( a mental illness that causes disturbed or unusual thinking, loss of interest in life, and strong or inappropriate emotions) . It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain.
  • Serentil (Mesoridazine) – is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and reduce restlessness, anxiety, and tension. It can also reduce hyperactivity and uncooperativeness.
  • Seroquel (Quetiapine) - is used to treat psychotic disorders and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Stelazine (Trifluoperazine) – is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility. It is also used short-term to treat anxiety in some patients.
  • Taractan (Chlorprothixene) – is used in the treatment of nervous, mental, and emotional conditions.
  • Thorazine (Chlorpromazine) – is used to treat psychotic disorders and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility. It also is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting.
  • Trilafon (Perphenazine) – is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and hostility.
  • Zyprexa (Olanzapine) - is used to treat schizophrenia, it works by decreasing unusually high levels of brain activity.
