Appellate Contract Attorneys — Join Our Team

GPDC seeks qualified candidates to serve on a contractual and ad hoc basis in the representation of indigent clients from their motions for new trial through direct appeal from criminal convictions. At GPDC, we recognize that appellate attorneys are specifically trained and well-versed in appellate substantive and procedural practice. Providing our clients assistance from an appellate specialist is usually the best option for ensuring our clients’ legal rights and remedies are preserved.

Many of our attorneys credit their appellate practice with making them stronger and more creative litigators. In joining our team, you will get the support needed to join the select group of Georgia attorneys with the knowledge and expertise of appellate practice.

Joining GPDC’s team of appellate contract attorneys allows you to take advantage of the support and appellate expertise of GPDC’s Appellate Division. As a part of our team, you’ll receive:

  • Step-by-step support from Appellate Programs;
  • A Lexis-Nexis research account;
  • Sample motions, briefs, and other pleadings;
  • Assistance with client managements;
  • Access to GPDC’s brief bank (coming soon);
  • Training from GPDC staff and other experts;
  • Help with issue-spotting & strategy with our Mastermind Sessions;
  • Access to GPDC’s forensic science expertise;
  • The opportunity to practice (or “moot”) your appellate court arguments;
  • The choice in taking cases anywhere in the State. Stay close to home or argue a motion someplace new. Positions are available in the various judicial circuits in Georgia, with attorneys especially sought in the southern Georgia geographic area.

Interested applicants must submit:

  • A cover letter and resume detailing the nature of the prior criminal experience, the nature of the work that qualifies them for the contract and the judicial circuits of interest;
  • A writing sample of the applicant’s written work no more than 15 pages; and
  • The contact information for three references who have reviewed applicant’s work.
