Business Support Analyst II

The Central Office of the Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC), located in Atlanta, is currently seeking to hire a career-minded and enthusiastic Business Support Analyst II who has a demonstrated knowledge of multiple aspects of database administration. The chosen candidate must have a great degree of business acumen and mastery of core data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in a specialized function of case management similar to the Judicial Case Activity Tracking System database. GPDC utilizes this system to track criminal and juvenile justice court cases from their initiation until their conclusion.

The Judicial Case Activity Tracking System Manager has three primary functions: ensuring that staff know how to use the database; ensuring that all data is being collected and managed in the central data management system; and understanding the business of the association.

Communication Skills: The Judicial Case Activity Tracking System SM interacts with all staff at all levels, and thus must have the interpersonal skills required to effectively converse, share, and receive information. In addition, this position will work with the Canyon database vendor and be able to communicate exactly what kind of help is needed.

Business Acumen: The Judicial Case Activity Tracking System SM must understand that the database and the data it contains is a means to an end, not an end unto itself. Before figuring out how to collect data, there must be an understanding of why data is being collected and relate that to the needs of the agency and its business, that is the provision of criminal defense representation and additional representation as offered in the varied field offices.

Specifically, the SM must:

  • Possess a global knowledge of agency data management requirements and of the Judicial Case Activity Tracking System database structure and capacity
  • Possess an understanding of procedures and key action points for the criminal and juvenile justice system that are relevant to the management of the Judicial Case Activity Tracking System 
  • Possess an understanding of the needs of disparate field offices and central administrative office as to the nature and scope of information tracking

Technical Skills: The Judicial Case Activity Tracking System SM will know how to use the database; navigate around the system and will have an excellent understanding of how things are related.

Entry Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience related to area of assignment. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
