Second Chair Attorney - Capital Litigation - Georgia Capital Defender

State Level Position

Location:  Atlanta, GA

Salary: $73,000

Job Description and Requirements:

The Georgia Capital Defender has an opening for an attorney in the Atlanta Main Office. We are accepting applications for Second Chair qualified individuals at this time. The Atlanta Office handles indigent capital cases predominantly in north Georgia, but applicant must be willing and able to handle cases throughout Georgia if necessary.  All applicants must have a strong interest in death penalty defense and client-centered representation.

Second Chair Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Applicant must have 3-5 years criminal defense trial experience and be member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia or able to waive into the Georgia Bar within a reasonable time period. Second chair must have significant jury trial experience and have been lead or co-counsel in one or more murder or serious violent felony cases to verdict. Applicant must be willing to relocate to the Metro Atlanta Georgia area. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively. Salary comes with full State of Georgia benefits, including health insurance and State pension. Salary: $73k
