Assistant Public Defender III

The Middle Georgia Regional Office of the Georgia Capital Defender has an opening for a second chair eligible attorney (APD III equivalent) representing indigent defendants in state capital cases at the trial level.  

Requirements: Applicants must have a strong interest in capital defense work and client centered, team representation, as well as a minimum of 3 years of criminal trial experience, including (1) being lead or co-counsel in at least one (non-death penalty) murder trial to verdict or (2) two felony jury trials to verdict. Counsel must be a member in good standing of the Georgia Bar or eligible to waive into admission to the Georgia Bar. Capital litigation experience is preferred.

The position offers an opportunity to work out of the Middle Georgia Regional Office in Macon, Georgia. Full state benefits. Salary range is commensurate with experience within the salary range of an APD III.
