Appellate Division Contract Administrative Support Position

Location: Downtown Atlanta

The central Appellate Division of the Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC) state agency is seeking an enthusiastic candidate to serve as an Administrative Support contractor. The position is located at 104 Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta. This is a part-time (20-hour-per-week) contract positon, which pays up to $14.00 per hour based on skill level. Under general supervision of the Division administrator and paralegal, this position performs a variety of clerical and administrative support functions in support of the Appellate Division. This position is responsible for entering data and processing documents and records in various systems including the agency case management system as well as Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The work includes operating standard office equipment.

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision, compiles and prepares files
  • Answers the telephone
  • Analyzes problems, questions, issues, etc. to develop and report recommendations for resolving them
  • Assists supervising staff in organizing and executing routine activities and special projectsInputs data into various computer databases
  • Provides administrative and/or technical assistance to staff
  • Researches and/or resolves client issues or questions
  • Prepares documents
  • Supports Appellate Division/Central Office staff members.

Technical Competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to use computer programs, calendar functions, and electronic research sources
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize workload
  • Ability to provide support services to staff
  • Ability to use proper judgment in selection of issues and determining how to handle or redirect them
  • Ability to identify needs of the office and provide satisfactory resolution

Entry Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of general office or administrative experience.
