Mitigation Investigator Position

The Augusta Law Office of the Public Defender is seeing to hire a Mitigation Investigator for our felony division. This investigator will work with a team of attorneys to develop both guilt/innocence and mitigation claims on behalf of clients. The investigator’s primary duties will include interviewing potential clients and making determinations of indigence; identifying, locating, and interviewing witnesses relevant to both the offense and the client’s social history; documenting the investigation; working with attorneys to find appropriate resources for individual clients; and other duties as assigned by the Circuit Public Defender. A masters or bachelors in social work is preferred.
