The Appellate Division of the Georgia Public Defender Council is accepting applications for a Staff Attorney position comparable to the Assistant Public Defender I. Based on experience, the position may be filled at the comparable level of Assistant Public Defender II. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Applicants must be admitted to both the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Preference will be given to candidates who have 3-5 years of criminal defense trial experience, outstanding research and writing skills, and high law school ranking/law review. Primary duties will include representing indigent clients post-conviction by preparing and presenting motions for new trial in Superior Court and prosecuting direct appeals with the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia. 

Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. The position will be open until filled.
